The initiative, supported by NatWest and Square, offers five winners a cash grant to fund energy-efficient improvements and an additional five winners a workplace electric vehicle charger from Pod, including installation. To qualify for the competition, UK-based businesses must have fewer than 50 employees and have been trading for at least 12 months. The competition is closed to businesses in insolvency, examinership, or receivership. Individuals applying must be the business owner or have explicit approval to apply, though they cannot be an employee of EDF, Enterprise Nation, NatWest, or Square, nor can immediate family members or household members be involved.
Those seeking the workplace EV charger face stricter conditions. The business must provide dedicated off-street parking for employees or visitors, and renters must obtain permission from their landlord. EDF requires a site management service subscription at £9 per charger per month to access management controls. The cash grant is taxable, and recipients are responsible for meeting that liability.

EDF states that the funds can be used for energy-efficient appliances, such as enhanced insulation for walls, lofts, or floors. The competition opens on July 21, 2026, and closes at midnight on August 31, 2026.
